Frequently Asked
Questions About CanaWelding Who owns CanaWelding.ca?
Do I need to bring my metal to you, or do you come to me?
We come to you. All Canawelding work is performed on-site — at your property, construction site, or industrial facility. No shop drop-off, no dismantling of installed components, no transport costs. Our mobile rigs carry the full process setup for every job: MIG, TIG, stick, spool gun, and the correct gas and filler for your material.
How quickly can you respond to a quote request?
Phone calls are answered same day during business hours — for urgent work, calling (647) 641-0550 is always faster than a form submission. Form submissions and emails are responded to within 4 business hours. For active construction sites requiring a certified welder urgently, call us directly and describe the scope — we’ll tell you our earliest available dispatch time honestly.
Do you provide documentation for commercial and construction sites?
Yes — we provide CWB certification, commercial general liability insurance certificate, and WSIB clearance certificate in advance for any site that requires it. For structural welding projects, weld procedure specifications (WPS) and welder qualification records are also available. Most commercial sites require at least the insurance and WSIB documents — contact us with your site’s specific requirements before booking and we’ll send the package ahead of the first visit.
What information should I have ready when I call for a quote?
The four things that most determine a quote are: (1) what needs welding — describe the component or damage; (2) the material — steel, aluminum, stainless, or unknown (we can advise); (3) the location — city or neighbourhood; and (4) the site conditions — indoor/outdoor, access height, confined space. Photos sent by email help significantly for complex or hard-to-describe jobs.
How is Canawelding related to CanaStruct Inc.?
Canawelding is the welding division of CanaStruct Inc. — a structural framing and building contractor operating across Ontario. Our welders carry CWB certification and genuine structural knowledge from active framing projects, not just a general welding background. Combined enquiries for framing and welding on the same project are welcome and can be handled under one contractor.
Do you weld on weekends or after hours?
Saturday work is scheduled regularly (8 AM – 4 PM). Sunday and after-hours welding is available for commercial clients with time-critical projects — describe the urgency when you call. Food-processing and commercial kitchen clients requiring off-hours work to avoid production disruption should mention this when contacting us so we can schedule appropriately. After-hours residential calls are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Do you give free quotes, or is there a call-out fee?
Written quotes are free for all commercial, construction, and industrial projects. For residential calls where a site visit is required to assess the work, we discuss whether a visit fee applies before sending anyone out — we do not charge surprise call-out fees. Simple residential jobs that can be clearly described over the phone or by email are quoted without a site visit requirement.
I don’t know what type of metal or welding process I need — can you advise?
Yes — describing the situation is enough. Tell us what needs welding (what broke, what needs joining, what the application is) and we’ll advise on material identification and process selection before confirming price. We do not charge for technical advice delivered over the phone or email as part of a quote request. If we need to see the job to assess it, we’ll tell you upfront.
